Italian Adventures – We Bought a House in Italy!

Tutto Torna Antiques is a great store in Montaione, owned by husband and wife team, Emma and Valerio. Valerio is masterful in his ability to transform old furniture into beautiful arts of work. They don’t have a website but do have a Facebook page where they frequently showcase what they have for sale. I highly recommend paying their store a visit. In fact, I recommend that you go in the morning, then head to nearby Voltera for a fun day exploring and a fabulous lunch.

Now I will explain how I discovered Emma & V.

In 2021 while we were waiting to close on the house, I joined several Facebook groups…Renovating Italy, Expats in Italy, Umbrian Aliens, etc. One morning in December I was scrolling through one of the groups and saw the most beautiful wardrobe posted for sale. This was the day I discovered Emma at Tutto Torna Antiques.

I did some research and the store seemed legit so I wrote to inquire about the armoir. Emma and I wrote back & forth and I ended up buying it, with agreement to have it delivered sometime in January once we took ownership of the house. This would be the first of many beautiful pieces I would buy over the next several years. To this day, Emma still comments in amazement that they have never had a client buy 4 wardrobes and more than 6 blanket boxes.

Throughout my blog posts you will see furniture and knickknacks in pictures I share, most of the furniture came from Tutto Torna, and other fun trinkets, plates, vases and fun items were discovered by me at the local Sunday antique markets. Emma shared a website with me that lists what markets are happening by region, where and when. I have come to love treasure hunting on Sunday.

Emma introduced me to my first grand antique market on Pasquetta…the Monday following Easter. I met her and Valerio in Greve, we chatted for a bit then split up to go hunting, and met back up a while later to share our finds. Emma had a list of items she was searching for on behalf of another client, Jane. Jane & her husband bought a place in Montone and once renovated, filled it with beautiful antiques bought from Emma & V or from her own love of Sunday treasure hunting.

I am so happy that I found Tutto Torna and now call Emma & Valerio my friends. Whenever they are heading out on a Sunday, we check in with a few other long time clients and meet up when we can. Yet just another wonderful thing about being in Italy – making lots of new friends!
