I Got Fooled!

April 17, 2022

After waiting and waiting for my shipped box of new bedding to arrive, I decided to run into town to the market and see if I can find comforters and top sheets that actually cover the whole bed. But NO! Fabro Scalo was completely deserted. I know it’s Easter but shouldn’t there still be a market? Town was literally empty without a soul or car in sight. OK, maybe it’s because it’s Easter. My bad. Buona Pasqua.

But NO NO NO…the next Sunday, still no market. WHAT?!?!?! Was it just a special market because of Easter? I have no idea but now I know not to go into town on Sunday…literally nothing is open. I am SO sad!

What I learned later from a neighbor is that Market Day in Fabro Scalo only happens the 2nd Sunday of every month. So unlike other towns that have weekly markets, Fabro Scalo only has a monthly market. I can’t even begin to express how happy I am to know that there IS a market and I can become a regular when I am in Italy! Va bene!

Even better, I discovered that there is a weekly market every Monday in Chiusi Scalo, which is only about a 10-15 min drive from the house (depending on how fast I am driving…hee hee hee). It’s a much bigger market than the Fabro Scalo market and pretty much takes over the center of the little town.

This is the ‘triangle bridge’ (as we call it) that I cross over to get from Santa Maria to the road that takes me into Po’ Bandino and Chiusi Scalo.

I now have a spreadsheet of all market days by day of the week and for 3 regions…Umbria, Tuscany and Terni.

Just wait until I write a post about the weekly antique markets!!!!!
