La Osteria & Mens Volleyball

Following my last post, 1st Shower Friday, I thought it was worth sharing my lovely experience having lunch at the Osteria.

Jess and I discovered this lovely family run restaurant back in June 2021 when we were exploring the area around la Casale. We loved that all of the patrons were local Italian couples and families and none of the staff spoke English. It was a major bonus that the food was delicious and we could eat outside and enjoy the weather.

Oggi (today), I was starving and found nothing in Monteleone d’Orvieto so off to the Osteria I drove. When I got there, only a few patrons were sitting outside but I noticed that several tables were gathered together and all had Reserved signs, making me curious about who was going to show up.

I grabbed a table near the building and gave my greetings to Alba and her sister Roberta. By now they know me and treat me like family, which I greatly appreciate. I speak as much Italian as I can and continue to practice so I can communicate more effectively, and they seem very appreciative of my efforts. I ordered umbrichelli and some grilled garlic bread, along with un mezzo litro del vino bianco della casa.

While enjoying my wine and the sunshine, a tour bus arrived and out poured 20+ very tall Italian men in uniforms…a volleyball team here for lunch. Ooo La La!!!

Lunch was good but the view was amazing! I stayed for espresso and took my time.
